Welcoming Dr. Brent Thiel to Orthopedic, Sports, Spine & Hand Center

[Published July 2021] We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Brent Thiel to the team at the Western Washington Medical Group’s Orthopedic, Sports, Spine & Hand Center. Specializing in Orthopedic Surgery, Thiel joins a trusted team of doctors, occupational therapists and physicians assistants, all dedicated to providing the best care to our patients. Our state-of-the-art facility features open MRI and digital X-ray capabilities in a warm, friendly environment, and is conveniently located in the same building as our Gateway Surgery Center.

Meet Brent Thiel, MD

Dr. Thiel was inspired to become a doctor after watching the orthopedic care his wife (a fellow gymnast) received after breaking her back and requiring multiple surgeries on her ankles. He first studied chemistry at Seattle Pacific University, then attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee to gain orthopedic training.

Serving in the U.S. Navy, Thiel’s first years as a doctor were spent treating patients in the island territory of Guam. He came back to the Everett area twenty years ago to practice orthopedics. With extensive experience in the musculoskeletal system, he regularly receives 5-star ratings from his patients.

In recent years, his most frequent work has centered around shoulder and knee injuries, performing replacement surgeries for both. However, he is also experienced in arthroscopic surgeries and full ACL reconstructions.

Dr. Thiel is excited to be a part of physician-owned and run Western Washington Medical Group, which enables him to offer more personalized care to his patients. He follows a philosophy of teamwork and collaborates closely with his patients about their treatment plans to determine the best possible course of action for their issues.

Dr. Thiel believes in keeping his patients physically active and treating them throughout their recovery; not just during the process of their surgery (if that’s what is required). With a dedicated commitment to rehabilitation and positive communication throughout, Thiel offers a high level of care that ensures his patients the best possible medical outcome.

Certifications and Accreditations

In addition to over two decades of orthopedic experience, Dr. Thiel is certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

In addition, he was named a Seattle Top Doctor in Seattle Magazine in 2017 and earlier in his career, received the Ancient Order of Chamorri Award, which is the highest civilian honor granted to a non-native resident of Guam.
